New Zealand's first Veefil unit heralds beginning of fast-charging network
Located in the town of Kaiwaka, situated between Auckland and Northland, the unit is positioned in the parking area of a supermarket and represents the launch of Phase 1 of a three-year project by ChargeNet to create the country’s first fast-charging network.
Further Veefil units will be deployed in and around other major cities such as Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. Tritium has already shipped 23 Veefil fast chargers for the first phase and ChargeNet plans to install 75 fast-charging units in total from Tritium over the next three years.
“The small size and weight of the Veefil, its advanced technology – together with sleek design – make it an ideal fast charger for ChargeNet,” explained Paul Sernia, Tritiums’s commercial director. “It was specifically designed to be used in areas where motorists will want to enjoy the convenience of fast charging, such as shopping centres, coffee shops and highways services, and it can add 50km range to an EV battery charge in just 10 minutes.”
