Nissan Ariya gets new entry and top-end models amid pricing rejig
Nissan has revamped its Ariya line-up, adding new entry and top-grade models while slashing pricing for other models.
Effective immediately, prices for all existing versions of the electric coupé crossover with the 63kWh battery have dropped by £3,000. At the same time, all 87kWh variants are being reduced by £3,750. This slahes the price difference between the 63kWh and 87kWh batteries to £5,000, providing a clear price differential for customers.
And to further help customers switch to electric motoring, Nissan has also topped and tailed the line-up with the new trims.
The Engage grade becomes the new entry point, priced at £39,645. It’s available solely in two-wheel drive guise but with both the 63kWh and 87kWh battery sizes, delivering 251 or 330 miles of range respectively (pending final homologation).
At the same time, Ariya Evolve+ arrives, sitting above the existing Evolve trim as a top-of-the-range derivative that delivers more equipment, plus almost 30% more power and faster acceleration. It’s priced from £59,025 and packs in e-4orce four-wheel drive, 394hp of power and acceleration from 0 to 62mph in 5.1 seconds. That’s up substantially compared to the 306hp and 5.7-second 0-62mph time of the existing Evolve grade, while still offering 310 miles of range.
Equipment on the entry Engage grade includes LED headlamps with high-beam assist, front fog lamps, LED rear fog lamps, heated mirrors with automatic folding capabilities and 19-inch alloy wheels. The cabin gets dual 12-inch driver and infotainment screens, paired with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Navigation and virtual personal assistant, while other features include rear-view camera, intelligent front emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intelligent cruise control and rear emergency braking with pedestrian recognition.
The new top-rung Evolve+ trim provides all the features of the Evolve – such as a panoramic retracting sunroof, intelligent rear view mirror, head-up display, power-adjustable centre console and steering column, DAB radio, Bose 10-speaker stereo and temperature-controlled front seats. But it also adds in 20-inch alloy wheels and a Nappa Blue leather seat trim, alongside the extra power and faster acceleration.
The line-up changes provide a more competitive customer proposition amid keen competition in the electric crossover sector.
Nic Thomas, Nissan GB marketing director, commented: “Ariya is a key pillar of the Nissan line-up and these two new variants will make Ariya more appealing to a much wider audience. Nissan’s electrification strategy involves making EVs more accessible and a new entry grade and new top spec variant, both timed with our enhanced pricing, are working to deliver a more enticing customer proposition, based on both price and performance.”
