Nissan expands Leaf range with high-value Shiro trim
Nissan has added a new grade for its fully electric Leaf hatchback, designed to combine advanced specification and attractive pricing.
On sale now and priced at £28,495, the new Shiro derivative is based on the N-Connecta and adds in £1,000 worth of extra equipment but costs £2,000 less.
Shiro is Japanese for white and this grade accordingly comes with Arctic White paint as standard. It’s available with an optional spare wheel pack and two-tone exterior paintwork including a black roof.
It also features Nissan’s ProPilot Assist driver assistance package, which includes Traffic Jam pilot, Intelligent Lane Keep Assist and an electronic parking brake. It also comes with synthetic leather trim with cloth inserts.
All Leaf retail and Motability customers will also get a complimentary three-year Zap-Map Premium subscription with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
Equipped with the Leaf’s smaller 39kWh battery only, it has an official WLTP combined range of 168 miles.
Nic Thomas, Nissan GB marketing director, commented: “Leaf was the first mass market car when it launched in 2010. With the second generation following in 2018, Nissan continued to be at the forefront of the electric revolution. Since then, Leaf has gone from strength to strength and continues to represent an excellent customer proposition for both new and used vehicle customers. I’m pleased to introduce this new version, Shiro is a welcome addition to our line-up which is great value and tech advanced and I’m sure will be an incredibly popular choice.”
The new Leaf Shiro is built in the UK at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, as with the rest of the Leaf range, and is on sale now.
The new variant boosts value for the Leaf in a fast-expanding marketplace with many rivals. It arrives ahead of the Leaf successor, revealed in 2021 as an electric crossover and due to go into production at the Sunderland plant in 2026, according to Autocar.
