Nissan partners with Acciona to bring Silence e-micromobility solutions to UK

Nissan has teamed up with Spanish business Acciona to bring a new range of e-micromobility solutions to the UK.

Nissan will distribute Silence S04 quadricycles and e-motorcycles in the UK

The Japanese OEM will become a UK distributor of S04 quadricycles and e-motorcycles developed by Acciona offshoot Silence, following similar deals in France, Italy and Germany. The deal will start from October 2024 and follows the launch of Nissan’s new ‘Arc’ business plan, targeting growth and competitiveness.

The e-micromobility solutions will target urban drivers, providing “easier access” to the first step on their electric journey.

First to arrive will be the S04 Nanocar quadricycle. Effectively a rival to the Citroën Ami, the two-seater will be available in two variants; the L7e which has an official 92-mile range and 54mph top speed, and the L6e with 109 miles and 28mph. It’s powered by two 5.6kWh batteries, and charging options include direct charging, battery swapping at dedicated stations (available with subscription where available), and home or office charging through a removable battery pack.

The S04 Nanocar comes with the My Silence app, enabling services such as keyless entry, location tracking, monitoring of range and battery charge status. It also allows customers to connect with friends and share access to their vehicle, without the need for swapping keys.

Nissan said its partnership with Acciona would give customers across Europe access to new mobility solutions, offering greater diversity of choice and lowering the barrier to entry for those who want to go electric.

Gareth Dunsmore, managing director e-micro mobility at Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe & Oceania), commented: “Through this Nissan partnership with Acciona, we’re ensuring that many more people across Europe have access to electric mobility and can embark on their EV journey. By opening access to Silence’s diverse range of alternative products, we are easing the EV transition by combining clean mobility with cutting-edge technology, in functional and flexible vehicles.”

Carlos Sotelo, CEO of Acciona’s mobility business and Silence, continued: “The needs of drivers in today’s towns and cities are changing – their commute, their attitudes to mobility, and what constitutes a realistic and efficient way for them to get around urban areas. To respond to this, we need to think smarter, smaller and lighter. Silence’s light electric vehicles, partnered with Nissan’s strong distribution network, offers new, exciting and clever options for urban mobility in Europe, shaping a more sustainable future.”
