Ola now offering EV ride-hailing in London for no extra charge
Ola is expanding its ride-hailing solution in London with a new EV-only service for no extra charge.
Running alongside its existing services, the Ola EV category is a global first for the firm and will roll out to its other markets.
It’s available across London, priced the same as the ‘comfort’ category, and is the first step in a series of measures Ola will make over the coming months, detailing its commitment to green transport networks, zero-emission travel and further supporting the Mayor of London’s plans to improve air quality across the capital.
To incentivise drivers to move into the new Ola EV category, Ola will offer a 0% commission rate for the first three months for all electric rides, which will be followed by offers through key partnerships. These will provide easy and affordable options for drivers and riders to shift to fully electric vehicles.
As a result, the new service is expected to go down well with drivers. Ola EV has 700 drivers across London and this is projected to grow quickly over the coming months.
Other eco-focused work by Ola has seen it launch a two-wheeler factory – said to be the world’s largest – in Tamil Nadu to build its range of electric two-wheelers; the vehicle will launch in the UK and Europe in the near future.
Ola will also provide charging solutions for all its electric two-wheeler customers with the recently unveiled Hypercharger Network, its charging network for its upcoming two-wheeler products.
Marc Rozendal, managing director of Ola UK, said: “Since launching in the UK, Ola has consistently looked to innovate and help solve the toughest mobility challenges. The launch of Ola EV is another great example, offering riders and drivers the opportunity to play their part in the journey to emission-free rides.”
