Omada reveals electric range for upcoming 5 SUV

Chinese newcomer Omada has revealed its incoming 5 SUV will have a range of 280 miles for the electric variant.

The Omada 5 launches spring 2024 in both fully electric and petrol versions

Revealed at this week’s Qatar motor show, held as a sister event to the Geneva motor show,  the 5 is the first car to arrive in the UK from car giant Chery under its “fashion-focused” Omada brand, which is being rolled out globally.

It launches next year in both fully electric and petrol versions. The latter is equipped with a 204hp motor on the front axle, fed by a 61kWh battery. It’s able to take 110kW DC rapid charging, giving a 0-80% charge in 30 minutes.

The Omada 5 EV will feature three driving modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport – while 0-62mph is acceleration time is 7.6 seconds.

Four trim levels will be on offer – said to deliver “segment-leading” standard equipment and with a suite of advanced driver assistance and safety systems.

The 5 SUV will be followed by two further electrified SUV models on UK roads by 2025. These include a larger O9 model with plug-in hybrid and internal combustion engine options and a smaller O3 with battery electric vehicle (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and ICE powertrains.
