The Omoda 9 all-wheel drive SUV is now on sale in the UK, ready to shake up the market with pricing just under £45k along with high specification and long plug-in hybrid range.

Joining the Omoda 5 petrol and E5 all-electric compact crossover, the Chinese marque’s new flagship brings a rival to the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60 while also showcasing the brand’s SHS (Super Hybrid System).

Already seen in sibling Jaecoo’s 7 SUV, this technology “drives like an EV and thinks like a hybrid” while delivering an expected combined range of over 700 miles WLTP, 93 miles of EV range and 40g/km CO2, giving it a 6% BiK rating for 2025/26.

The powertrain combines a 1.5-litre TGDI turbo petrol engine, dual electric motors and a 34.46kWh battery using a “state-of-the-art M3P” chemistry. This gives a total output of 449hp and 700Nm of torque along with a 0-62 mph time of 4.9 seconds and “impressive” fuel efficiency.

It’s married up to an intelligent four-wheel drive system and a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, with six operating modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Mud, Snow and Off-Road.

Omoda says its flagship model is specified with an “everything as standard” approach. For £44,990, drivers get electromagnetic suspension, automatic parking assist, a 1.3m sunroof roof, plus heated and ventilated adjustable seating throughout, a front lighting signature with134 LED daytime running lights, and a ‘companion’ app.

Technology includes a 540-degree panoramic view camera with transparent view, Air Purification, a headrest-equipped, 14-speaker Sony surround sound system, a cooled wireless charging pad, electronically controlled reclining seats and a 24.6-inch curved display along with 20 ADAS features.

The Omoda 9 also comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, alongside an eight-year battery warranty.

UK deliveries of the Omoda 9 start in June via the brand’s 73-strong dealer network.
