Osprey Charging has installed a hub of eight 300kW ultra-rapid EV chargers at the Brewpoint brewery, providing residents, businesses and visitors with easy access to EV charging.

The new hub is the ninth site that Osprey has created with Wells & Co and the largest yet

It’s the ninth site that Osprey has created in total with Bedfordshire pub landlord and brewery Wells & Co and the largest yet.

The new hub is the latest and largest facility built in collaboration with family-owned Wells & Co and the ninth site Osprey has created in total with the Bedfordshire pub landlord and brewery.

Situated next to the Brewpoint brewery, the new ultra-rapid charge points can add up to 100 miles of range in as little as 15-20 minutes of charge, depending on the vehicle and its battery.

The chargers are managed with load balancing technology, which optimises grid connections and allows power to be distributed based on vehicle demand. This maximises charge speeds and significantly improves wait times and charge point availability.

Osprey also claims market-leading reliability and innovation in EV roaming at the hub thanks to its Osprey Iris in-house software platform.

The chargers are easy to use and designed with simple payment for drivers, accepting contactless bank cards, Apple/Google Pay, the Osprey App and RFID card payments as well as payments through all major third-party payment methods, including fleet cards.

Announced as the UK passes the 50,000 charger milestone, the new hub will bolster UK national EV charging infrastructure, improve local air quality, reduce noise pollution and support local decarbonisation efforts

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, said: “Osprey now has over 800 charge points installed across the UK, each carefully designed to maximise space, accessibility and availability and made to the latest and highest standards. This new charging site at Wells & Co’s Brewpoint brewery in Bedford is a vital part of the recharging network that will enable the decarbonisation of transport in the UK.”

The installation has been funded by Osprey, which operates and oversees maintenance of the chargers which are all supplied with renewable energy.

Nick Wells, head of estates and at Wells & Co and fifth-generation family member, added: “This new hub is a fantastic addition for our customers as well as Bedfordshire residents and businesses, and we look forward to working with Osprey on many more locations in future. We consider this to be a critical part of our sustainability agenda and look forward to welcoming EV drivers to enjoy a coffee or meal at Brewpoint whilst they wait to charge.”
