Osprey opens ultra-rapid charging site in Hertfordshire
Osprey Charging has boosted access to public charging in Hertfordshire with two ultra-rapid EV chargers at St John’s Well Lane Car Park in Berkhamsted.
The 150kW chargers – serving four bays – can add up to 100 miles of range in around 15-20 minutes of charge, depending on the vehicle and its battery.
Located just off the A41, the chargers are also just a short walk from Berkhamsted’s shops and cafes. Osprey funded the installation and oversees the operation and maintenance of the chargers, all of which are powered by renewable energy.
Designed for simple payment by drivers, Osprey chargers accept contactless bank cards, Apple/Google Pay, the Osprey app and RFID card payments as well as payments through all major third-party payment methods including fleet cards.
Osprey’s in-house software, Osprey Iris, also enables high levels of reliability and innovation in EV roaming. The network has a reported reliability rate of 99% along with a high rate of growth, expanding by 150% in 2023 and now spanning more than 1,200 operational chargers.
Osprey was also recently ranked as a Zap-Map ‘driver recommended network’ for the fourth consecutive year.
Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, said: “The rollout of EV charging facilities is quickly gathering pace and we’re here to provide a reliable and rapid public charging service for all drivers, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands.”
He continued: “The new charging site in Berkhamsted will form a vital part of the recharging network that will enable the decarbonisation of transport in the UK.”
