Tesla’s majorly revamped Model Y is now available to order in the UK, complete with enhanced efficiency, refinement, quality and range.

A global best seller – and the UK’s most popular electric car in 2024 – the Model Y has been revamped for 2025

First to arrive will be the Launch Series limited edition, priced from £60,990 and featuring a dual-motor Long Range All-Wheel Drive configuration that delivers WLTP range of 353 miles – up by 22 miles on the previous 331 miles – along with 0-62mph acceleration in 4.3s and a 125mph top speed.

Other variants will follow and are expected to include rear-wheel-drive and top-rung Performance models.

A global best seller – and the UK’s most popular electric car in 2024 – the revamped Model Y ‘Juniper’ gets a sleeker design that reduces drag, combined with new wheels featuring improved aerodynamics and low-resistance tyres. The more streamlined look delivers big improvements in energy efficiency, aiding the longer range.

New front and rear lightbars draw on Cybertruck and Cybercab styling and a new front camera is also now available, giving an expanded view of surroundings and even equipped with a fluid washer and integrated heating.

Just two colours are available from launch – silver and black.

As with the Model 3, the interior has been made over with a key focus on interior refinement and ambience. The arrival of acoustic glass on every surface, paired with new sound-dampening materials, is said to have reduced road noise by 22%, impact noise by 20% and wind noise by 20%.

The Tesla also comes with new ‘low-E glass’ that reflects 26% more solar energy, which combined with a quieter, more efficient air-conditioning system, helps maintain the perfect temperature.

Comfort and convenience changes deliver redesigned and now ventilated front seats while the second-row seats get easier-to-access buckles, longer cushions, deeper bolsters, with powered recline and fold-flat operation. Both first and second rows are heated.

The centre console now features sliding doors and an aluminium cover. Aluminium details also appear on the steering wheel, door trims and instrument panels.

Both haptic switches and physical buttons are used and there’s new customisable steering wheel switches for quick access to frequently used vehicle functions, along with indicator controls on a conventional stalk.

Improved connectivity and entertainment features deliver an 8-inch touchscreen for second-row passengers, featuring integrated climate controls and entertainment options, including gaming, audio and video streaming. The cabin also comes equipped with one front and two rear USB-C charging ports, with up to 65W of power.

The audio system has been redesigned, featuring hidden speakers for both aesthetic and audio performance reasons. Improvements have also been made to the microphones, for better call quality.

Redesigned hardware is said to deliver a significant boost to connectivity: 50% faster download speeds and a 30% greater range. Wi-Fi connectivity has also been boosted, with download speeds up to 300% faster for smoother video streaming and software updates, and a range extension of up to 200%, ensuring sustained connectivity in areas such as garages and driveways. Phone key performance and reliability have seen a 10x improvement, thanks to the addition of Ultra-Wideband and other enhancements, which also enable automatic boot opening when paired with the Tesla app.

As with all Tesla vehicles, these hardware improvements will enable additional features via over-the-air software updates, free of charge for owners, in the future.

Customer deliveries will start in March. Tesla will launch additional new Model Y trims in the future.
