Peugeot’s electric SUV line-up is getting a boost with new performance variants of the E-3008 and E-5008 and the debut of a five-seater E-5008 variant.

A five-seater E-5008 is due in the first half of 2025

The Dual Motor 325 powertrain with all-wheel drive retains the 213hp front-mounted electric motor on entry level versions and gains an extra 112hp motor at the rear, delivering a hefty 325hp.

Full performance figures, along with battery setup and range, should be announced soon ahead of the new models’ global arrival in the coming weeks.

The latest crop of updates to Peugeot’s electric line-up – announced at its third annual E-Lion Day – also deliver a new five-seater version of the E-5008.

Due in the first half of 2025, it will join the seven-seater launched last year, providing large SUV fans with increased loading capacity “without sacrificing driving pleasure”.

Boot space with the second-row seats up swells to 994 litres – an extra 78 litres when compared with the seven-seat version.

And with the second row folded, luggage capacity rises to 2,310 litres. That’s enough for more than two Jacuzzis or 15 suitcases, depending on your preference.

Other updates announced at the E-Lion Day include a new battery pre-heating system for both the E-3008 and E-5008, managed via the onboard Trip Planner and op

New to the Peugeot E-3008 and E-5008 is a battery pre-heating system, linked to the cabin pre-heating and designed to optimise the duration of the first charge during long journeys in cold weather. Pre-heating of the battery will also soon be able to be managed via the onboard Trip Planner, activating pre-heating automatically if the driver needs to charge en route and cutting time.

Peugeot also continues to roll out hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies to support drivers not wishing to go full electric just yet.

Its new Plug-in Hybrid 195 e-DCS7 powertrain, already available on the 3008 and 5008, is coming soon to the 308 and 408. The technology teams up a 150hp 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 125hp electric motor, mated to a new seven-speed dual shift clutch automatic transmission, outputting a total of  195hp. All-electric range for the 308 and 408 hasn’t been disclosed yet but stands at 53 and 48 miles for the 3008 and 5008 respectively.

Peugeot also continues to roll out the Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 mild hybrid powertrain, used in many models across the Stellantis group’s line-up. Now available on almost the entire Peugeot range, from the 208 to the 5008, the 48V system features a 136hp 1.2-litre petrol engine, coupled with a six-speed dual shift clutch automatic transmission integrated with the electric motor to provide engine assistance and an electric-only mode at low speeds for short distances.
