Order books are now open for the Peugeot’s new 308 and 308 SW, which include plug-in hybrid powertrains for the first time.

The new 308 and 308 SW are available with a choice of two plug-in hybrid powertrains from launch

Starting first deliveries in 2022, the third-generation range is priced from £24,000 for the 308 and £25,200 for the 308 SW. The line-up includes the Hybrid 180 PHEV or the more powerful Hybrid 225, both powered by a 12.4kWh battery and a 1.6-litre petrol engine.

The Hybrid 180 variants have an electric-only range of over 40 miles for both body styles, putting them in the 7% Benefit-in-Kind bracket for 2021/2022.

All plug-in hybrid variants come with a 3.7kW on-board charger as standard, giving a full charge in three hours 50 minutes, while the optional 7.4kW charger reduces this to one hour 55 minutes.

The line-up also includes the 1.2-litre PureTech 130 petrol and the 1.5-litre BlueHDi 130 diesel, both producing 131hp. All 308 models come as standard with Peugeot’s EAT8 eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Based on the latest version of the Stellantis Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2) platform, the new 308 is longer and lower, and also features bolder new styling. The new 308 SW comes with a 55mm longer wheelbase than the 308 and a 215mm longer rear overhang for improved space and boot volume. This gives load volume capacity of 608 litres, rising to 1,634 litres for petrol and diesel variants with the rear seats folded.

Five trim levels are available: Active Premium, Allure, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium. A new multi-function compact steering wheel and a 10-inch HD capacitive colour touchscreen are standard across the range, while Peugeot’s Connected 3D Navigation with live traffic updates, the i-Connect voice-operated assistant and the new customisable i-Toggle switches are featured from Allure upwards.

Safety and driver assistance technologies include programmable cruise control and speed limiter, lane keeping assist, speed limit & traffic sign recognition and recommendation, driver attention warning, intelligent speed adaptation and active safety brake with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
