PlusCharge and Atem Networks launch UK-first media screen EV chargers
EV charge point specialist PlusCharge has teamed up with media solutions business Atem Networks to launch new media screen EV charging stations, said to be UK first.
Revealed at the Move 2023 event, the 22kW AC and modular 120-180kW DC charging stations feature a 55-inch bright screen, designed for high visibility even in direct sunlight. This enables organisations to display custom messages or advertisements on the charging station’s screen, regardless of weather conditions.
Thanks to its partnership with Atem Networks, PlusCharge is able to offer integration of a wide range of bespoke content, including live streaming or fixed-cycle advertising, creating new ways for businesses to engage with their audience and generate revenue streams.
David Hytch, technical director for PlusCharge, explained: “Unlike many EV charging providers that solely offer AC charging stations with outdoor advertising screens, PlusCharge is innovating the market by firstly offering the more powerful DC charging stations, but also launching our first AC and DC media screen charging points. Available with dual SIM cards, our solution provides users with the ability to operate the system on more than one link, therefore reducing the possibility of data bottlenecks when supporting both chargers and media screen content.
“With Atem Networks as our partner, we can also provide customised content for fixed cycles or live streaming based on user requirements on each unit, allowing different content for each screen. This opens up new revenue opportunities for our customers on a per-month basis.”
In addition to the media screens, PlusCharge provides a range of solutions to its customers, including its PlusConnect software, where customers can access information about tariffs, arrange billing and directly contact support channels through the app where their help request is instantly picked up by PlusCharge support staff 24/7. PlusConnect also provides valuable data insights, empowering operational managers to optimise charger usage, prioritise certain vehicles and maximise profits.
Hytch added: “We will also be shortly adding remote credit card readers to support those AC chargers with no contactless capability, which will be pedestal-mounted. Add on the ability to integrate with all major roaming providers thanks to our open API, and what we have is a dynamic back-office system and dashboard that provides users with the ability to manage their EV charge points quickly and efficiently.”
