Polestar has revealed pricing and specifications for its 4 SUV-coupé, which lands in the UK this summer.

Polestar 4 production is planned for the middle of 2024, with first deliveries expected from August

The brand’s third series-production car and its fastest one yet, it’s available to order now and priced from £59,990.

Positioned between the existing 2 saloon-cum-hatchback and the forthcoming 3 SUV, it “transforms the aerodynamics of a coupé and the space of an SUV into a new breed of SUV coupé”.

Built on parent firm Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), also used for group models such as Smart’s new #3, it features a large body and long wheelbase to give generous onboard space, especially in the rear.

Dual- and single-motor variants are available, fitted with a 100kWh battery as standard.

The entry-level single-motor version features a 272hp motor at the rear and has an expected WLTP range of 379 miles.

The dual motor delivers 544hp and can go from zero to 62mph in 3.8 seconds – earning it the title of the brand’s fastest production car so far. It also has a targeted WLTP range of 360 miles and the driver can select between Range or Performance driving modes. It also features a disconnect clutch that allows the car to disengage the front electric motor when not needed, to maximise range and efficiency.

Both versions can charge at up to 200kW DC and b-directional charging hardware is included, with vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality planned for a later date. A heat pump is fitted as standard.

Standard equipment includes an infotainment system with a 15.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, over-the-air (OTA) updates, 10.2-inch driver display and 20-inch wheels.

It also gets a secondary media and climate control screen between the front seats for rear-seat occupants, and a high-definition screen to replace the rear-view mirror. Other safety systems include the SuperVision Advanced Driver Assistance System from Mobileye as standard. This teams up 12 cameras, one radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors to monitor the driver and help avoid incidents related to fatigue or incapacitation.

Design features include a standard full-length glass roof, retractable door handles and interior materials that take inspiration from the fashion and sportswear industries and are designed for sustainability.

Drivers can also add in a Plus Pack, delivering comfort and technology upgrades, while the Pro Pack adds 21-inch wheels and subtle design details. The Plus pack upgrades to “animal welfare-secured” Nappa leather upholstery with ventilation and massage, additional headrest speakers for the front seats and rear comfort headrests.

The Pilot Pack includes Pilot Assist and its extended features, while the Performance Pack – available on the Long Range Dual Motor version, adds in 22-inch wheels, performance chassis tuning and gold details for the brakes, seat belts and valve caps.
