Peugeot’s third-generation 308 is to be priced from £24,000 and include plug-in hybrid versions for the first time when it launches later this year.

The new Peugeot 308 is now available to order

The family hatchback will be available from launch with a choice of two plug-in hybrid powertrains alongside conventional petrol and diesel engines.

Available in selected trims and priced from £33,000, the PHEVs comprise the Hybrid 180 e-EAT 8 and Hybrid 225 e-EAT8. These feature a 150hp and 180hp PureTech 1.6-litre petrol engine respectively, along with a 110hp electric motor married up to an e-EAT8 auto gearbox. Both versions are powered by a 12.4kWh lithium-ion battery and have an electric-only range of up to 39 miles and CO2 emissions from 25g/km, putting them in the 11% BiK bracket for the 2021/22 tax year.

A 3.7kW onboard charger comes as standard on the PHEVs, giving a full charge in three hours 50 minutes, while the optional 7.4kW charger reduces this to one hour 55 mins.

The engine line-up also includes the 1.2-litre PureTech 130 EAT8 petrol and the 1.5-litre BlueHDi 130 EAT8 diesel, both delivering 130hp and again with the EAT8 transmission.

Based on the latest version of the Stellantis Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2) platform, the new 308 is longer and lower, and also features bolder new styling; it’s the first Peugeot to use the brand’s new logo.

Interior features include a new high-quality finish and the latest version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit digital-focused concept.

Five trim levels are available: Active Premium, Allure, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium. A new multi-function compact steering wheel and a 10-inch HD capacitive colour touchscreen are standard across the range, while Peugeot’s Connected 3D Navigation with live traffic updates, the i-Connect voice-operated assistant and the new customisable i-Toggle switches are featured from Allure upwards.

Safety and driver assistance technologies include programmable cruise control and speed limiter, lane keeping assist, speed limit & traffic sign recognition and recommendation, driver attention warning, intelligent speed adaptation and active safety brake with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

Deliveries for the new Peugeot 308 start in December.
