Prices and specs announced for longer-range Renault Zoe

Renault has announced UK pricing and specs for its second-generation Zoe electric vehicle, which brings the option of increased range and faster charging plus extra equipment.

The updated Renault Zoe

Revealed earlier this year and available to order from mid-September, the new model now features a 52kWh battery, giving it up to 245 miles of range (WLTP-rated) – up 32% from the previous 41kWh pack and said to be a segment best.

Despite the increase in range and capacity, the battery has not increased in size physically, meaning no loss of interior space.

The updated Zoe also now offers a more powerful R135 100kW motor option, as well as the existing R110 80 W motor, now the entry-level variant, to enable customers to choose between price and performance.

The new R135 100 kW motor, available on Iconic and GT Line models, delivers 135hp and improved torque of 245Nm. The result is a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 87mph. This compares to the 107hp and 134Nm of the R110, which provides an 11.4 0-62mph time and 84mph top speed.

Both motors now come equipped with the new ‘B mode’ driving function, already seen on the latest Leaf, which which increases the regenerative braking effect to essentially allow the driver one-pedal operation of the car.

The latest Zoe also brings faster charging thanks to the introduction of CCS DC charging, in addition to the AC options already available at home or on the street. This enables the Zoe to make use of DC charging up to 50kW, adding around 90 miles of range in as little as half an hour. When using a 7kW wallbox, supplied as standard to customers for home charging, the latest Zoe can charge from 0 to 100% in nine hours and 25 minutes.

Charging the battery is also made more straightforward by the Renault Easy Connect smart services, which allow quick and easy location of charging points.

Other changes bring a completely redesigned and improved interior with soft touch plastics and new sustainable trim finishes.

Three trim levels are offered: Play, Iconic and GT Line. Standard equipment includes full LED headlamps, a customisable 10-inch TFT instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while wireless smartphone charging is standard on Iconic and GT Line and a 9.3-inch portrait style multimedia screen is standard on GT Line and optional on Iconic.

The Zoe remains available to buy fully outright with no mileage limit on the battery and an eight year/100,000-mile guarantee, or under a battery lease option.

Prices start from £18,670 OTR including the PiCG for the R110 version on the battery lease option and £25,670 OTR including the PiCG as a full purchase.
