Pricing and specs revealed for all-new DS 4
DS Automobiles has revealed details of its all-new DS 4, which will be available in three different variants to target both the premium hatch and crossover sectors.
Priced from £25,350, it’s the fourth model to be offered in the standalone DS line-up, alongside the DS 7 Crossback and DS 3 Crossback SUVs and the DS 9 premium saloon, and will be offered in a range of powertrains including an E-Tense Plug-in Hybrid.
The first-generation DS 4 hatchback was discontinued in 2018 due to shifting buyer interest in crossovers and the new model will sit across both sectors through its DS 4, Performance Line and Cross derivatives.
Powertrains include the E-Tense 225 plug-in hybrid powertrain seen in models such as the DS 7 Crossback and with WLTP CO2 emissions from 30g/km. The DS 4 will also be offered with a choice of three PureTech petrol engines, a PureTech130, PureTech180 and PureTech225, and a BlueHDi 130 diesel, the latter with emissions from 121g/km. All powertrains come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
All three variants feature a bold new front end, complete with a new light signature that uses slim projector headlights, complemented by Daytime Running Lights that feature 98 LED lights in total.
The DS 4 model is targeted at buyers with families and seeking a versatile premium hatchback. Its design was inspired by the DS Aero Sport Lounge Concept and includes bespoke bumpers, chrome styling and a contrasting colour roof.
In DS 4 guise, customers can choose between three trims – Bastille+, Trocadero and Rivoli. Entry-level kit includes 16-inch alloys, a 10-inch HD touchscreen and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Also included is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera with 180-degree vision.
Trocadero models get 19-inch diamond-cut alloys, enhanced design details and an upgraded DS Iris infotainment system – an all-new full HD touchscreen infotainment system supported by over-the-air updates and featuring the Iris personal assistant with natural voice recognition. The system can be operated via the 10-inch central touchscreen, or via the DS Smart Touch gesture control system located on the centre console.
Rivoli trim brings bespoke 19-inch diamond-cut alloys and a black leather trim for the interior. A number of safety features are also added, including DS Drive Assist, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Lane Positioning Assist. The top-spec DS 4 variant also gets Matrix LED Vision headlights.
The DS 4 Performance Line is focused on a more athletic look and is priced from £26,850 and available in two trims – Performance Line and Performance Line+, which bring a gloss black finish for the front grille, as well as dark-tinted rear windows and black upper window surrounds.
Performance Line models come with black 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the interior is finished in black Alcantara and there’s a black leather steering wheel with stitching. Performance Line models also feature front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera and LED front and rear lights.
Performance Line+ adds in an advanced emergency braking system and adaptive cruise control, in addition to the DS Iris infotainment system with DS Smart Touch and the DS extended head-up display.
The final variant is the Cross, which is priced from £29,450 and targets crossover buyers with SUV-inspired styling cues, including side skirts, gloss black roof bars, front and rear skids and black bumpers. Also available as an exclusive option is Advanced Traction Control, featuring sand, snow and mud modes for improved grip when driving off-road.
There are two trims available for the Cross variant – Cross Trocadero and Cross Rivoli. The former come with 19-inch alloy wheels and a Tungsten Diamond cloth interior, while Cross Rivoli models are fitted with bespoke 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a Basalt black leather interior.
The Cross Rivoli adds in the DS Iris system and DS Smart Touch. It also includes keyless entry and start, while the DS Matrix LED Vision headlights incorporate a Dynamic Bending Light function, replicating the directional headlights of the 1967 DS and illuminating the sides of the road. The DS Extended Head-Up Display is also fitted across the DS 4 Cross line-up.
All DS 4 models with PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel powertrains can also be specified with DS Active Scan Suspension, which controls each wheel independently based on data from cameras, sensors and accelerometers to deliver a smooth and composed ride.
Deliveries of the all-new DS 4 start later this year.
