The fully electric five-door supermini, which teams up the revered 5 moniker with retro styling, will be available in three grades and two powertrains from launch, delivering up to 248 miles of WLTP range.

Built on the next-generation AmpR Small platform (formerly CMF-BEV) also being used for the upcoming 4 electric crossover, the Vauxhall Corsa Electric and Mini Cooper Electric rival offers seating for five as well as a practical 326-litre boot, complete with dedicated storage for charging cables.

The entry-level ‘Urban Range’ powertrain features a 120hp electric motor with 225Nm of torque, fed by a 40kWh battery for a WLTP range of 190 miles. It’s able to dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in 9.0 seconds and has a top speed of 93mph.

The ‘Comfort Range’ model sits above this, delivering more power and range. This version features a 150hp e-motor with 245Nm of torque plus a larger 52kWh battery. Official WLTP range is upped to 248 miles while the 0-62mph time is cut to 7.9 seconds. The top speed remains at 93mph.

Both models are fitted with an 11kW AC onboard charger that gives a charging time of four hours 51 minutes for the Comfort Range. For public charging, the Urban Range powertrain can charge up to 80kW DC, rising to 100kW for the Comfort Range version, allowing a 15-80% charge in 30 minutes.

The 5 is also the first Renault to benefit from bi-directional functionality, including vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities that enable it to charge devices with an adaptor.

The three-range line-up from launch includes Evolution, Techno and Iconic versions. The Urban Range powertrain is available with all three but the Comfort Range foregoes the entry-level Evolution version.

Evolution versions are kitted out with 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, a 7-inch driver display, 10.1-inch OpenR Link infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay + Android Auto, auto air conditioning, rear parking sensors, hands-free card, front and rear full LED lights. Safety features include cruise control, driver attention alert and traffic sign recognition with speed alert, while the My Safety switch allows drivers to deactivate or activate a set of driver assistance functions simultaneously. The Evolution grade is solely available with the Urban Range powertrain and priced at £22,295.

The Techno version adds in built-in Google services for the infotainment, wireless phone charger and upgrades to a 10-inch digital driver information display. There’s also DC charge preconditioning and a ‘5’ bonnet charging indicator. Safety features see the arrival of adaptive cruise control with stop & go while there’s a rear-view camera added in and the Multisense system with different driving modes and ambient lighting. Prices start from £24,995 for the Urban Range version and step up £2k to £26,995 for Comfort Range.

The top-rung Iconic model is priced from £26,995 for the Urban Range with a £2k price walk again to £28,995 for the Comfort Range. It adds in chrono 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, heated steering wheel and heated front seats with lumbar adjustment. Uprated safety systems deliver active driver assist, combining adaptive cruise control with lane centring, hands-free parking, blind spot warning and rear occupant safety alert.

Standout colour options include Pop Yellow! and Pop Green!

First deliveries in the UK start in spring 2025, with demonstrators in Renault showrooms from March.

Customers can also buy Renault’s R-Pass priority access now, enabling them to be among the first to take delivery.
