Roadchef on M5 gains six new Gridserve ultra-rapid chargers
Motorway services operator Roadchef has introduced six new 360kW EV chargers at its Strensham South site on the M5.
Located near Tewkesbury in Worcestershire between junctions 7 and 8, the Gridserve ultra-rapid chargers are open now. Equipped with Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors, the chargers will allow drivers to fully charge their vehicles in minutes, accept contactless payments and provide real-time status updates to several popular EV charging maps.
These new additions complement the existing two rapid chargers at Strensham South, which are equipped with both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, further enhancing the location’s charging capabilities.
The new chargers go live as latest vehicle registration figures from the Society of Motor Traders and Manufacturers (SMMT) reveal battery electric vehicle (BEV) deliveries in February rose 41.7% to 21,244 units, accounting for one in four new car registrations.
A spokesperson for Roadchef said: “With electric vehicles increasing their market share in the UK, as highlighted by SMMT, Roadchef’s continued investment in charging infrastructure is a crucial step in future-proofing Britain’s roads.
“Beyond the charging convenience, electric vehicle drivers at Strensham South Services can enjoy the various amenities offered by Roadchef, including complimentary Wi-Fi and access to popular shopping and dining options.”
