Schindler UK adds first electric vans to fleet with Athlon UK
Schindler UK has started the switch to electric vans with the help of leasing and fleet management specialist Athlon UK.
The lift company has taken delivery of 15 ID. Buzz Cargo vans, marking a significant milestone towards the electrification of its commercial fleet.
Schindler already has an ‘EV First’ policy on its company cars, resulting in 100% of the car fleet being pure electric, and the new Volkswagen vans are a landmark in plans for its commercial fleet to go electric.
Athlon’s chief commercial officer Lesley Slater was there to personally hand over the vehicles to Schindler’s chief financial officer Bukky Marcinkowski.
“We are delighted to support Schindler in their journey towards a greener future. These electric vans are just the beginning of our relationship as Schindler transitions to a fully electrified commercial fleet,” said Slater.
The vehicles have been supplied by VW Van Centre Sheffield and feature a standout livery from Media Fleet along with racking solutions from Sortimo for use by technicians.
Schindler UK recently appointed Athlon as its preferred fleet provider, building on a long-standing collaboration within the international fleet.
David Haynes, LCV business development manager for Athlon UK, worked closely with Paul Jackson, Schindler UK’s fleet manager, to ensure a seamless integration of fleet management and leasing solutions.
Jackson said: “With the support from the Athlon team, Schindler have been able to significantly reduce the time spent on administration and management of our fleet.
“While our company cars are already at 100% electric, Athlon have been incredibly supportive in assisting Schindler on the commercial vehicle EV journey. We look forward to continued support from Athlon in supporting Schindler to achieve our sustainability targets with our commercial fleet.”
