ScottishPower sees strong take-up from Tusker EV sal-sac scheme
A Tusker car benefit scheme introduced at ScottishPower has seen high levels of take-up in its first year in operation.
So far, some 230 employees have chosen an electric car on the scheme, which provides an affordable way to drive a brand-new EV. More than 170 cars have already been delivered, representing a carbon emission saving of more than 300 tonnes.
And 50% of employees have logged into the Tusker scheme website to view the cars available, demonstrating a huge appetite for the benefit.
The scheme meets a growing need among employees to make the switch to driving ‘electric’, supporting ScottishPower with employee recruitment and retention.
And with net zero a key corporate priority for the renewable energy provider, it’s also enhancing the company’s sustainable benefits offer from a salary sacrifice provider that’s completely carbon neutral.
An additional EV Grant scheme has also been introduced to complement the salary sacrifice car scheme. The EV Grants mean that Tusker vehicles are made extra economically attractive, as employees are able to get a lump sum payment, in exchange for the ScottishPower livery being displayed on their electric vehicle.
Tusker has worked with ScottishPower to ensure that the new electric car benefit scheme is inclusive and easily accessible to all employees. The car order process is online, mobile-friendly and fully integrated to ScottishPower’s existing employee benefit portal, which provides employees with access to a wealth of information about the car scheme and the vehicles available.
Jenny McCosh, benefits manager at ScottishPower, commented: “We are delighted with the engagement we have seen from employees on the scheme, showing their real desire to lower their carbon footprint and be ambassadors for the switch to driving electric.
“We’re proud to be offering our employees the opportunity to drive a brand-new electric car and make savings while doing so. It’s a key part of our overall benefits package and fits really well with our corporate sustainability goals.”
Paul Gilshan, CEO at Tusker, added: “ScottishPower have really embraced the car scheme from Tusker with employees making the switch to an affordable, greener and cleaner vehicle when they might not otherwise be able to afford to do so.”
