Siemens and Osprey Charging deal to fast-track new public EV charging sites
Osprey has plans to install more than 1,500 charging stations over the next four years but, as with all charge point operators (CPOs), the the rollout process requires solutions for metering that support commissioning of the charge points.
The new tie-up will address this. Siemens will become a preferred supplier of end-end meter operator (MOP) services and will commission and install meters at each EV charge point at Osprey Charging’s sites up and down the country.
It’s part of work by Siemens’ commercial and industrial metering division to streamline the meter commissioning process for CPOs to help keep pace with the exponential demand for public EV chargers up and down the country.
The agreement will help speed up the delivery of new Osprey Charging sites. In the past six months, the compnay has added 100 charging stations across the country, from Perthshire to Cornwall. Its focus on equitable distribution has seen it add sites in rural locations where charge points are less common. Installation sites include the New Forest, Devon and the North Wales coastline, helping to ensure no community is left behind in the transition to EVs.
He continued: “The team at Siemens has an in-depth understanding of the way meter installations are queued as well as the operational processes at our side too. As a result, we have been able to get power into our units, irrespective of their location, in a matter of days while others have had to wait potentially weeks or months.”
