Škoda is launching a vRS performance version of the Elroq six months after the electric compact SUV debuted.

Rolling out from the summer, it will be the brand’s fastest-accelerating production model to date – and the fastest charging too.

The latest addition to the vRS family gets a dual-motor powertrain that delivers all-wheel drive and a total output of 340hp, sprinting from 0 to 62mph in 5.4 seconds and with a top speed of 111mph.

It also promises dynamic handling from its lowered sports suspension with specific tuning and progressive steering while the DCC adaptive chassis is available as an option. Drive Mode Select also offers a special traction mode tailored to the all-wheel drive.

Despite its performance credentials, the Elroq vRS will boast an electric range of more than 340 miles on the WLTP cycle thanks to its 84kWh battery.

It will also support fast charging up to 185kW at DC fast-charging stations, enabling the battery to recharge from 10 to 80% in around 26 minutes. AC charging at 11kW takes the battery from 0 to 100% in eight hours.

The Elroq vRS is designed to look the part with black-painted body accessories, vRS-exclusive alloy wheels measuring up to 21 inches, privacy glass tinted rear and rear side windows and acoustic side window, and a sporty interior with microsuede upholstery and three-spoke heated sports steering wheel in perforated leather and with lime-green stitching along with a vRS badge. Like all Elroq models, the vRS variant is characterised by the new high-gloss black Tech-Deck Face accommodating multiple sensors, including radar.

The comprehensive standard equipment also includes LED Matrix beam headlights, LED rear lights with dynamic indicators and electrically adjustable driver’s seat with massage function, which is also available for the front passenger along with tri-zone Climatronic air conditioning as part of the optional Maxx Package.

The cabin comes with a 5-inch digital cockpit and 13-inch infotainment display as standard, including vRS-specific graphics, plus four fast-charging USB-C ports with an output of up to 45W, the 15W Phone Box with wireless charging and ventilation and a 12-speaker Canton sound system with 675W.

The Elroq vRS can be ordered in a variety of colours as well as the vRS-specific Hyper Green finish.

The standard electrically operated tailgate with virtual pedal enables easy access to the 470- to 1,580-litre luggage compartment.

Tow bar preparation is included as standard, and an electric release towbar is available as an option.

The latest version of Travel Assist, which comes as standard, combines safety features such as adaptive lane assist, predictive adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, emergency assist and blind spot detection. It features the use of online swarm data as standard. Keyless entry is also included as standard.

The upgraded MyŠkoda app also supports new functions for the optional Intelligent Park Assist.

UK pricing and specification will be announced later this month ahead of first deliveries expected in the summer.
