Škoda expands electric Enyaq iV line-up with coupé and first-ever vRS
Škoda has added a coupé version, including its first-ever all-electric vRS variant, to its Enyaq iV line-up.
Revealed via a virtual world premiere, the Enyaq Coupé arrives in the UK later this year, bringing a more rakish design and targeting drivers looking for “emotion with efficiency”.
As with the Enyaq SUV, it’s based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform and is 4,653mm long, 1,879mm wide and 1622mm high, making it 4mm longer and 6mm higher than the SUV.
Due to its sportier lines, the coupé loses out slightly on boot space – which falls from 585 litres for the SUV to 570 – but the design does enhance aerodynamics. As a result, the Enyaq coupe has a drag coefficient (cd) of 0.234, which enables it to improve on the electric range of the SUV.
While the SUV has two battery sizes – 62kWh and 82kWh – bringing WLTP ranges of up to 256 miles and 333 miles respectively, the coupé only gets the larger battery, able to be fast-charged from 10 to 80% in just 29 minutes, and with up to 339 miles of range.
It’s available with three power variants, including the range-topping vRS – Škoda’s first all‑electric vRS model – and rear- or all-wheel drive.
The entry-level version is the rear-wheel drive Enyaq Coupé iV 80, which has 204hp of power and 310Nm of torque, along with the longest range in the line-up, standing at 339 miles.
The 80x and vRS models add in a second motor on the front axle, making them all-wheel-drive.
The 80x has 262hp of power and maximum torque of 425Nm, along with a top speed of 99mph (160km/h) to match the 80.
The range-topping vRS gets 295hp of power and maximum torque of 460Nm. It can complete the 0-62mph sprint in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 111mph. The vRS is also kitted out with the brand’s trademark vRS black design details and full-length red reflector at the rear, and is available in an exclusive Hyper Green paintwork.
Design features across the range include alloy wheels between 19 and 21 inches and a dark tinted panoramic glass roof as standard – the largest panoramic glass roof in the Škoda range. As with the SUV, the coupé is available with the optional Crystal Face, inspired by the original 2019 Vision iV concept car and using more than 130 LEDs to illuminate the grill, surrounded by horizontal light strip rounds. The crystal face is standard on the vRS.
The SportLine trim and the vRS also come with a sports chassis as standard. They sit 15mm lower at the front and 10mm at the rear.
Just as with the SUV, the coupé’s interior replaces traditional trim levels with Design Selections. Choices include 10 themed packages along with selected options, arranged by elements, such as comfort, driving dynamics, climate control, assistance systems and infotainment and intended to make car configuration much easier. Most of these packages are available as a Basic as well as a Plus bundle.
Standard features include a 13-inch central infotainment screen and the 5.3-inch Digital Cockpit, which can optionally be supplemented by a head-up display with augmented reality.
All coupés also come with dual-zone climate control, a two-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel with control buttons, and keyless start. All models also feature a heated steering wheel with paddles to adjust energy recovery.
The Enyaq Coupé can also be equipped with an optional tow bar, enabling it to tow trailers weighing up to 1,400kg on gradients of 8%, while the boot comes with a low loading sill and an optional electric tailgate, which can be operated via a kick of the foot.
Thomas Schäfer, Škoda Auto CEO, said: “Following the successful launch of the SUV, the new Enyaq Coupé iV brings even more emotiveness, sports styling and elegance to the Škoda iV family. Our designers and engineers have once again succeeded in combining a high degree of functionality with an emotive design. The brand-new range-topping model is also the first-ever all-electric Škoda vRS. The Enyaq Coupé iV perfectly combines emotion with efficiency, offering the Škoda-typical generous amounts of space, even in a particularly elegant body.”
Prices are yet to be announced.
