Škoda ups Enyaq iV electric range and battery efficiency in free software update
Škoda is rolling out a free software update for its Enyaq iV electric SUV, increasing range and battery efficiency.
The new ME3 software version, which is available now at Škoda dealers, also brings a large number of other improvements, including to the Virtual Cockpit, head-up display, infotainment system and Connect online services.
The installation process takes about five hours and will enable future software upgrades to be carried out over-the-air. New Enyaq iV vehicles and the Enyaq Coupé iV will come with the new software as standard.
In terms of battery and charging, the new software offers a battery care mode in which the battery is only charged to a maximum of 80% during the next charging process. This helps to conserve it and extend its service life. However, the battery’s full storage capacity and maximum charging speed will be available at any time if required.
Škoda is also increasing the maximum charging rate to 120kW for models with the 62kWh battery and 135kW for models with the larger 82kWh battery. However, for owners with an Enyaq iV with the 50kW charging rate as standard, this will only apply if they purchased upgraded DC charging as an option or upgraded their charging rate via the approved Škoda accessory upgrade.
Other changes see the charging and range graphics in the infotainment system augmented with a display of the destination and any required charging stops, while the Virtual Cockpit and the head-up display now get displays of the current battery charge level.
The contrast on the rear-view camera has been stepped up to deliver improved visibility. Drivers can also now use a button on the multifunction steering wheel to switch between Adaptive Cruise Control and Travel Assist. And Škoda has also enhanced various Connect online services.
Owners of qualifying vehicles will be contacted by their local Škoda and asked to book a free service appointment to install the new software.
