SSE Energy Solutions has signed up EV fleet fuel card innovators Paua as its first roaming network partner.

The deal will enable Paua’s customers to use SSE’s expanding EV charging network

The deal comes just weeks after SSE kickstarted its plans for a major UK-wide charging network and will enable Paua’s customers to use SSE’s expanding EV charging network.

SSE plans to open 300 ultra-fast charging hubs across the UK and Ireland over the next five years, supported by an efficient and simple charging experience. It’s already signed a major deal with M7 Real Estate to install charging hubs at 20 locations managed on behalf of Oxford Properties.

The latest agreement means that Paua drivers will be able to benefit from the growing network of SSE ultra-fast charging hubs. The fuel card can already be used at the first of SSE’s hubs on Glasgow’s Castlebank Street which went live in September.

Simon Pickett, SSE Energy Solutions EV technology and innovation lead, said: “This is a great opportunity for SSE Energy Solutions and Paua to collaborate, supporting fleet charging with as little fuss as possible. We are 100% committed in the battle to reach net zero. Anything that encourages the uptake of EVs and makes charging access and experiences easier is good news for us all.

“We will continue to develop our relationship with Paua and other pioneering partners to bring more sites online and give both private drivers and fleet operators access to the services they need as quickly as possible.”

Niall Riddell, co-founder and CEO of Paua Tech, commented: “We are transitioning away from fossil fuels. But we are also living in a more digitised and connected world. Bringing the best of technology to this energy transition is what we do at Paua. We are enabling the payment layer for the future of mobility making the large-scale adoption of EV’s a breeze.

“And we know that when leading utilities, such as SSE, enter the infrastructure arena the pace of change is going to be significant.”
