Suzuki Vitara gets new tech and enhanced hybrid efficiency

Suzuki has given the Vitara a 2025 model year update, complete with latest SUV styling, technical revisions and further improved hybrid efficiency.

The Vitara gets redefined SUV styling, extra standard equipment and improved hybrid efficiency

Due to be joined next year by the e Vitara fully electric SUV – a brand-new model on the newly developed Heartect-e platform – the Vitara remains a strong selling model in the range.

The updates build on this with significant revisions for 2025 that include a revamp of exterior styling. Changes include a redesigned front grille and bumper, rear upper spoiler, new 17-inch alloy wheels and two new colour shades.

The line-up, as before, includes mild hybrid and hybrid petrol versions. The mild hybrid uses a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V setup and manual transmission. The full hybrid features a 1.5-litre petrol and 30hp e-motor, married up with an automated gear shift (AGS) transmission. Both are available with the option of four-wheel drive.

Under the changes, WLTP combined fuel consumption is now lower for the 2WD mild hybrid manual transmission models, offering up to 9% improvement at 53.2mpg.

Full hybrid 2WD models with the AGS transmission offer up to 6% improvement at 56.4mpg. CO2 emissions are lower too at 113g/km for the 1.5-litre full hybrid entry-level model – previously 119gkm.

Suzuki has also revamped the trim levels, delivering a higher level of standard equipment and technology to boot.

The Vitara now switches to Motion and Ultra grade names, already seen in the S-Cross, Swace and Swift models.

A higher level of safety technology is now available as standard for both Motion and Ultra models including lane keep assist, intelligent speed control, driver monitoring system and eCall.

Both grades also get an upgraded Dual Sensor Brake Support system using a millimetre-wave radar (previously lidar) combined with a monocular camera. This system has enhanced collision mitigation with improved night time and intersection visibility and with its improved functionality can detect pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and vehicles in front.

Standard equipment levels across both grades now delivers a 9-inch media display, wireless smartphone link with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry and start, high beam assist, auto-dim rear-view mirror, rear parking sensors plus Suzuki Connect connected services that includes three years’ free subscription.

Moving up to the Ultra grade adds in 17-inch polished alloy wheels in a new design, panoramic sliding sunroof, suede / leather seat fabric, front and rear parking sensors, electric folding door mirrors with built-in indicators and overhead storage console.

The revamped Suzuki Vitara is priced from £26,949.
