Neil Durno joins Swarco Smart Charging as new business manager for its truck and commercial fleet operations

An experienced professional and current chair of the HGV and Commercial Fleets Working Group within EV trade group Recharge UK, Durno has more than a decade of expertise in advising and delivering next-generation electric, battery-powered transport solutions and renewable energy.

In his new role, he will assist more vehicle operators and SMEs to benefit from the company’s 13-year track record in delivering electric vehicle infrastructure solutions nationwide. This includes promoting the company’s mission to be the most trusted partner for infrastructure and aftermarket support in the truck and commercial fleet sector.

“Truck and commercial fleet operators want advice from people they can trust, and Swarco Smart Charging can trace its roots in traffic and transport back more than 50 years,” Durno said. “Of course, businesses want access to the right advice and the right technology – that’s why we take a very consultative approach to customer relationships – but they also need confidence that the company they are working with now will still be around to support them over the long term.

“That’s why I am delighted to have joined  the business that is one of the true innovation powerhouses in UK, with a proven track record in delivering future-proof solutions that support our customers’ operational flexibility, reliability and performance.”

Durno started his career with RS Components 30 years ago, before moving into the solar PV and wind turbine industry in 2010. Since then, he has worked across number of different industries with sustainability at their core, including Schneider Electric on solar PV and energy storage, Centrica on energy systems flexibility, and Hitachi ABB Power Grids to develop the future of transport hubs and integrated transport solutions.

More recently, he has worked as head of zero emission vehicle solutions for Syzygy Consulting, developing strategy options for clients.
