Tesla’s 2024 Holiday Update brings bumper load of upgrades
Tesla is spreading “extra joy to Tesla owners this holiday season” with a bumper pack of upgrades.
Landing from next week, the 2024 Holiday Update delivers a whole raft of new features and enhancements for free to Tesla owners.
Highlights include the arrival of a Tesla App on Apple Watch that will allow drivers to use their watch as a car key and also view battery charge, open the frunk and remotely turn on climate control.
Users can also watch Dashcam & Sentry Mode clips directly from the Tesla app and save these on the phone to edit or share.
Updates also mean that drivers can use the Autoshift function on the stalkless Model 3 to automatically shift between drive and reverse to take care of car parking manoeuvres and three-point turns, helping out in tight spots.
A new driver assistance feature also arrives in the form of rear cross traffic alert. This sounds a warning when reversing if the vehicle detects a pedestrian or vehicle crossing behind. An audible warning will also play if a cross-traffic object is detected
Map and route planning upgrades enable drivers to now set a preferred battery charge level for arrival at their destination and also search along their route for charge points with estimated detour times.
A new ‘Precipitation Map’ also shows the weather at the destination, enabling drivers to plan ahead.
Other enhancements include two new Light Shows and the ability to schedule a Light Show from the Tesla App, while there’s also a new Boomerang Fu game, a ‘Fart on Contact’ mode, Maintenance Summary, Find Nearby Parking at destination or at any point of interest, and more.
