A further two charging points will be installed at Sandown Park and Epsom Downs shortly, completing its London-wide course coverage. Newmarket, Exeter and Wincanton will be activated soon afterwards, offering full battery recharging for 95p and the ability for fans, conference attendees, clients, suppiers and staff to travel to the venues on electric power.

The units also form part of Chargemaster’s POLAR network, planned to reach 4,000 locations across the U.K. by the end of 2012.

David Martell, chief executive of Chargemaster Plc, said: ‘As part of the national POLAR network, Chargemaster is installing charging points across the country, but we are pleased that The Jockey Club will be the first network of sporting venues to provide this service to their customers.

'We hope many racing fans, conference and events customers and staff, will find this service useful in the years ahead when more and more consumers will be using plug in cars.’
