Toyota launches EV home charging solution

By / 8 months ago / UK News / No Comments

Toyota has launched a domestic charge point to simplify the switch to electric vehicles.

The home charger is designed to work seamlessly with Toyota vehicles – but can also be used to charge any electric or PHEV with a Type 2 Mode 3 connector

The 7.4kW home charger is designed to work seamlessly with Toyota vehicles and the MyToyota app – but can also be used to charge any electric or plug-in hybrid with a Type 2 Mode 3 connector.

The carmaker said its Toyota HomeCharge solution offers greater functionality, interactivity and integration compared to using third-party wallbox systems to charge a Toyota vehicle. Drivers can use the MyToyota app to ensure easy, integrated operation and simple charging schedule management.

The home chargers are being installed by British Gas under the firms’ existing collaboration, with post-installation support from Toyota specialists.

Toyota HomeCharge is available to order now from Toyota Centres nationwide, with installations from late May. The price, including Toyota HomeCharge and standard installation by British Gas, is £1,095 (inc. VAT). However, retail customers who order an eligible new Toyota battery electric or plug-in hybrid car or van before 1 July 2024 can get a standard HomeCharge unit and installation for free.

Toyota customers can also use the Toyota Charging Network to gain easy access to thousands of UK public charge points using a single app or RDIF card. The network currently covers more than 27,000 public charge points across the UK, almost half the national total, and is available with three different subscription levels.
