Toyota’s all-electric bZ4X proves hit with UK Uber drivers

Toyota’s new Uber Driver Scheme has gone down a storm as ride-hailing drivers take up the bespoke financing opportunity to go electric.

The scheme enables Uber owner-drivers to acquire a new Toyota or Lexus BEV through Toyota or Lexus hire purchase with 0% APR representative, over a term of up to 60 months

In just 10 weeks, orders have been placed for more than 1,000 bZ4X, together with other Toyota and Lexus battery electric vehicles. As well as individual owner-drivers, Toyota’s fleet partners have also secured hundreds of sales linked to the new Uber Driver Scheme.

Such a high level of interest has also delivered more than 75,000 unique visits to a dedicated online micro-site giving details of bZ4X and other vehicles available, and a step-by-step guide to the financing options.

Under the scheme, Toyota (GB) and Toyota Financial Services have developed a new vehicle financing product specifically for Uber owner-drivers to acquire a new Toyota or Lexus BEV through Toyota or Lexus hire purchase with 0% APR representative, over a term of up to 60 months.

There is a special focus on the Toyota bZ4X SUV, with Uber providing additional support for those choosing the model.

Neil Broad, general manager Toyota Fleet Services, said: “The response to our new programme with Uber has been exceptional. We have a well-established, successful relationship with Uber both here in the UK and globally, and we share a commitment to providing mobility for all. With our new Uber Driver Scheme we are helping Uber progress its ambition to become a 100% electric vehicle business.”
