Tual launches powerbank to help electric commercial vehicle fleets plug energy gap

Tual, a specialist in swappable powerbanks for commercial electric vehicles, has launched a powerbank solution to help electric commercial fleets plug the energy gap.

Fleets benefit from high-power charging, using energy drawn from the grid at the most efficient times

An extension of the company’s vehicle powerbank solutions portfolio, the Boost Charger uses the same design and technology to provide fleet depot sites facing limited energy supply with DC battery-buffer power to keep vehicles operating efficiently and to schedule.

According to the company, lost productivity from charging downtime can cost fleets up to £150,000 per driver or vehicle over a five-year period.

Designed from the ground-up to power fleets into the EV transition, the solution can help operators avoid the need for costly and time-intensive grid upgrades.

Analysis by Tual indicates that 80% of locations where fleets want to charge commercial vehicles have constrained or absent grid connections.

The solution is designed to make full use of fleet sites’ energy capacity, transforming an unusable site into a recharge depot overnight.

Fleets can draw and store available grid power at all times of the day and night when most efficient and then deploy the power as required, delivering high-power charging up to 120kW.

The solution has been designed for deployment within 48 hours of transaction – subject to stock – with fleet operators able to use the solution within hours of installation.
