US Ford Focus Electric Available To Order
The first limited run of vehicles will be available to customers in California, New York and New Jersey, with the remaining launch markets getting stock as production begins to pick up pace. Ford chose its 19 launch markets based on commuting patterns, hybrid purchase trends and the collaboration of utility companies and local governments to promote electrification.
‘Today is an historic day, as Ford opens up the order banks for the company’s first full production, all-electric passenger vehicle – the Focus Electric,’ said Chad D’Arcy, Focus Electric marketing manager. ‘The all-new Focus Electric is an important part of Ford’s overall strategy, bringing still another option to customers who want a car that is fun-to-drive, easy to own and fully electric.’
The Focus Electric can be charged in three hours from a 240-volt socket, around half the time of a Nissan LEAF, and factory-fitted equipment is generous. As well as the updated exterior, the interior features EV-specific dials and the manufacturer’s MyFord Touch system including a smartphone app allowing full control of charging times and on-board systems. The only options available are leather seats and a choice of two paint colours.
