Vauxhall Combo Electric eLCV gets price parity with Combo Diesel
Vauxhall has announced a new offer on the Combo Electric, allowing businesses to switch to electric for the same monthly rental as a diesel Combo.
The compact electric van is available on business contract hire through Leasys, the joint venture equally owned by Stellantis and Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance, with an identical deposit, monthly payment and term to the diesel version.
On Prime trim, the Combo Electric costs £329pm with a £1,974 deposit, while customers can upgrade to Pro trim for £365pm with a £2,190 deposit. The contract term is 60 months with a mileage allowance of 6,000 miles per year.
Drivers and fleets can actually save money on running costs for the Combo electric compared to the diesel Combo. Vauxhall calculates that users can save around £91 per month from switching to the electric model thanks to fuel savings of £64 per month based on 500 miles per month (6,000 miles annually) and a saving of £26 per month due to the current exemption on VED for electric vehicles.
Sole traders and small businesses in London can also take advantage of the ULEZ van scrappage scheme and access a £9,500 grant by replacing a non-compliant diesel van with a Combo Electric.
The recently revamped Combo Electric now has a WLTP range of 213 miles – 38 more than its predecessor. Its 52kWh battery can be recharged from 0-80% in 30 minutes at a 100kW public charging station. The 136hp electric motor develops 270Nm of torque, and the Combo Electric also delivers up to 4.4 cubic metres of storage space – the same as the diesel version, plus a class-leading payload of up to 781kg and 750kg towing capacity.
The Combo Electric also comes with three years of roadside assistance and an eight-year battery warranty as standard.
Vauxhall offers a fully electric version of every model in its LCV line-up. Alongside its sister Stellantis brands, it’s also the only brand to manufacture vans in the UK, with the Combo Electric being produced at the Ellesmere Port plant, the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing facility. Vauxhall’s Luton plant will begin manufacturing electric vans from next year.
James Taylor, managing director at Vauxhall, said: “The removal of any additional upfront cost for van drivers looking to go electric is a significant step in our ambition to make electric mobility accessible to all. With identical monthly payments and lower running costs, it will allow Combo Electric customers to realise significant savings compared to the equivalent diesel version over the life of the vehicle.
“Manufactured at our Ellesmere Port plant, we are proud to offer businesses a British-built electric vehicle for such outstanding value.”
