Aimed at both families and fleets in shuttle vehicle guise, the updated people carriers feature Vauxhall’s Vizor front-end design for the first time and also benefit from extra electric range and latest equipment, as with their commercial vehicle siblings.

The Combo Life Electric is available in two lengths. The standard version offers space for up to five people with three individual seats in the second row, while the Electric XL can accommodate up to seven passengers seated across three rows, with two individual split-folding and removable third-row seats, and a sliding facility for its third-row seats.

It’s able to offer between 597 and 2,693 litres of load volume, along with practical features such as the separately opening window in the tailgate and the horizontally foldable passenger seat backrest.

As with the Combo Electric, the MPV variant offers more range than before thanks to development of the fully electric drivetrain with its 136hp motor and the optional heat pump. The 52kWh battery now enables a WLTP range of up to 199 miles – some 25 miles (14%) more than the previous model.

The 100kW DC rapid charging capability means the battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in around 30 minutes at a suitable public charging station. Drivers have the option to select Eco, Normal and Power driving modes. The Combo Life Electric also has regenerative braking to ensure energy-efficient driving, which can easily be adjusted using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Equipment includes up to 18 driver assistance systems, such as Intelli-Grip with hill descent control, sensors at the front and rear as well as flank guard. It’s also now available with adaptive, glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix headlights, fitted with 14 LED elements to ensure that the road is optimally illuminated in the dark without glaring other road users and while giving the driver more time to react to hazards.

The Combo Life Electric is available in two trim levels: Design and Ultimate. Combo Life Electric Design comes with a multimedia audio system with a 10-inch HD touchscreen, Mirror Screen, 4G connectivity, voice control and Vauxhall Connect.

Combo Life Electric Ultimate, solely available as a five-seater, adds the Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment system, a panoramic rear-view camera, a heated leather steering wheel and dual-zone electronic climate control. Ultimate trim also features black gloss side-protection mouldings, black painted door mirrors and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Prices range from £32,180 for the Combo Life Electric Design five-seater, rising to £33,080 for the Design XL seven-seater and £34,695 for the Ultimate five-seater.

The larger Vivaro Life Electric people carrier is aimed at large families, shuttle services and anyone who needs a spacious, comfortable and flexible vehicle.

It’s available in two lengths: standard at 4.96m or in XL form, at just over 5.3m. It’s also offered in three trim levels – Combi, Design and Ultimate – and can be configured with four different seating arrangements, capable of accommodating up to nine people.

These include a 3+3+3 layout, ideal for use as a shuttle vehicle and available in Combi trim, plus a 2+3+3 layout, suitable for use as a shuttle or leisure vehicle and available on Design and Ultimate trims. There’s also a 2+2+3 set-up for a more luxurious passenger experience and available in Ultimate trim when fitted with the optional F2F Rear Seat Pack in the second row.

Finally, a 2+2+2 VIP Pack features six individual leather armchairs and a foldable sliding table. The second row of seats can be fitted so that passengers sit face-to-face – perfect for business meetings or socialising. It’s available in Ultimate trim when fitted with the optional F2F Rear Seat Packs in the rearmost two rows.

The Vivaro Life has a load volume of up to 1,500 litres in the configuration with nine seats. With five seats, up to 3,000 litres can be transported and 4,200 or 4,900 litres with two or three people on board, depending on the length of model specified.

All Vivaro Life Electric models have nearside and offside sliding side-access doors with fixed windows. The passenger vehicle has remote control central deadlocking and selective door locking.

As standard, the facelifted Vivaro Life Electric Combi is equipped with a 10-inch HD touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring and Vauxhall Connect, which can be operated through voice recognition. The infotainment system also includes DAB digital radio and 4G connectivity.

Design trim adds in tinted rear windows and tailgate, full diameter wheel trims and body-coloured bumpers. Inside, Vivaro Life Electric Design has mistral black side trim panels with decorative inserts and a woven roof trim. Also included is the Acoustic Pack, which adds motor and cabin noise absorbers.

Vauxhall Vivaro Life Electric Ultimate upgrades this with TOSCA premium speakers, leather seat trim, dual-zone electronic climate control, a heated leather steering wheel, and heated driver and front passenger seats with massage facility. For passengers, there are roof-mounted rear heater controls and rear seat back tables. Ultimate trim also includes keyless entry and start, and an automatic anti-dazzle rear view mirror.

All Vivaro Life Electric models come with safety and driver assistance features such as Eco LED headlights with high beam assist, rain-sensitive windscreen wipers, intelligent speed assistance, lane keeping assist, advance emergency braking system and rear parking sensors. Ultimate models add a 180-degree reversing camera and blind spot detection, while Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go is available as an optional extra.

The Vivaro Life Electric is available with a 75kWh battery and 136hp electric motor, providing a range of up to 217 miles (WLTP).

A smaller capacity 50kWh battery is also available for the Vivaro Life Electric Combi and Combi XL with a WLTP range of 139 miles.

A 7.4kW onboard charger comes as standard, with an 11kW charger available as an option. At a 100kW DC rapid charging station, the 50kWh battery can be charged to 80% of its capacity in around 38 minutes, while the 75kWh battery takes 45 minutes.

Prices start from £39,190 for the Combi with a 3+3+3 layout and the 50kWh battery. The XL Ultimate is priced from £56,330 with the 2+3+3 layout while the F2F Rear Seat Packs cost £750 for the second row and £740 for the third row.

Both the Combo Life Electric and Vivaro Life Electric are available with Vauxhall’s Plug & Go offer, which includes a free Octopus Energy Ohme Pro wallbox and installation when customers buy online. Customers also have the option to choose one year’s free charging credit at Tesco stores across the country, or a £675 roaming charging credit with Octopus Electroverse, in lieu of the free wallbox.

Orders for the updated Combo Life Electric and Vivaro Life Electric are open now, with deliveries from early summer.
