Vauxhall cuts prices for Grandland Electric by up to £4,700
Vauxhall has slashed list prices for its Grandland Electric, offering savings of up to £4,700 that also deliver lower VED rates.
Prices for the flagship SUV now start from £37,345 in the entry-level Design trim, representing a saving of £3,650, while the mid-range GS grade is now priced at £38,495, down by £4,650.
The top-rung Ultimate trim sees the largest reduction of £4,700 with a new OTR price of £40,495.
Introduced just weeks after the new-generation Grandland started deliveries, the price cuts mean both the Design and GS trim are now below the £40,000 threshold for the additional ‘expensive car supplement’ rate of VED, which is currently an extra £410 from the second year of ownership. On top of the lower list prices, this means customers save £1,640 in VED over four years, equating to some £40 per month.
The revised pricing also narrows the gap between hybrid and electric models – with the GS trim, which is the expected best-seller, now priced just £1,845 higher for the electric. Grandland Electric drivers can also benefit from cost savings through charging at cheap off-peak energy rates compared to petrol costs.
James Taylor, managing director, Vauxhall, commented: “We are doing all we can to make Britain’s switch to electric simple and attainable for our customers.
“With the recent Budget confirming the introduction of the new Vehicle Excise Duty rules from April 2025, we are pleased to announce that two of our three new Grandland Electric versions, representing around an expected 80% of sales, will not attract this new tax – making going electric in our latest family SUV even more attainable.”
Debuted this summer, the new Grandland Electric sits at the top of Vauxhall’s fully refreshed SUV line-up and is the brand’s first vehicle based on the STLA Medium platform.
It features a 73kWh (net) battery, a 213hp motor with 345Nm of torque and energy-saving features such as a standard-fit heat pump, enabling the 325-mile WLTP range. Its 160kW rapid charging capability means a 20-80% charge takes just 26 minutes.
The lower pricing for the Grandland Electric follows recent changes across Vauxhall’s electric car line-up.
The Corsa Electric is available in Design trim from the new, lower price of £29,045, with GS and Ultimate versions priced at £31,230 and £33,040 respectively, delivering a maximum reduction of £4,150.
The Corsa Electric Long Range is also available in entry-level Design trim for the first time, priced from £30,440 and with up to 248 miles of range. The GS and Ultimate versions of the Corsa Electric Long Range are priced at £32,625 and £34,435 respectively.
Meanwhile, the Astra Electric Design is now priced from £34,945, with GS and Ultimate trims priced at £37,240 and £39,395 respectively. This represents a saving of up to £3,865 on the Ultimate trim.
And the Astra Sports Tourer Electric is now £3,850 cheaper than before, with Design trim available from £36,145.
