Micromobility provider Voi has started a four-month trial of an electric zero-emission tuk-tuk that will make its servicing fleet greener.

The three-wheeled, open-cabin Taskman EV has been supplied by Biliti Electric and will be used by Voi’s staff to travel around Bristol, carrying out service tasks such as swapping batteries and maintenance.

The motorised rickshaw will be integrated into the shared e-scooter firm’s warehouse vehicle fleet to support on-street maintenance while complying with the city’s new Clean Air Zone.

It’s powered by swappable electric batteries and has a top speed of 25mph and maximum range of 110 miles, while its small design and comfortable ride enables the Taskman to navigate around the city and tackle Bristol’s cobbled roads.

Developed by Biliti Electric, the Taskman is being rolled out in many markets globally as part of the company’s work to introduce smart, efficient and affordable electric mobility solutions to businesses, including major companies such as Ikea, Walmart, FedEx and Amazon.

The vehicle’s trial in Bristol fits in with Voi’s commitment to offer a carbon-neutral mobility service.

Voi is not the first fleet in the UK to trial a tuk-tuk; Gwent Police in Wales unveiled its fleet of tuk-tuks in October 2022. The vehicles are being used to patrol parks, walkways and public spaces.
