Volkswagen launches lower-price ID.3, ID.5 and sporty ID.4, ID.5 GTX Editions

Volkswagen has introduced new and enhanced trim levels for its range of ID. electric cars, delivering enhanced value along with a new entry-level battery for some versions.

The ID.3 hatchback gets two new trims: Pure Essential and Pure Match. Equipped with a new entry-level 52kWh battery, they’re priced at £30,850 and £32,210 respectively and deliver new lead-in models for the line-up.

Both models deliver 170hp of power and a range of approximately 240 miles. They can be charged at up to 145kW DC, going from 10 to 80% in 25 minutes.

The Pure Match has added equipment compared to the Pure Essential and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, metallic paint, a comfort package (heated front seats, navigation, two-zone Climatronic air conditioning), a rear-view camera, carpet mats and tinted windows.

Volkswagen has also revised its existing ID.4 Pure Match, which gains new 19-inch alloy wheels along with a price cut of £3,090, reducing the price to £39,550.

The ID.5 line-up, like the ID.3, gets a new Pure Match version equipped with the same smaller capacity 52kWh battery as the new ID.3 trims, cutting entry pricing to £41,050. WLTP maximum range stands at around 222 miles and standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels, metallic paint, comfort package, rear-view camera, carpet mats and tinted windows.

At the same time, new ID.4 and ID.5 GTX Edition trims arrive, combining the performance of existing GTX models with additional features and prices of £52,205 and £53,705 respectively.

Both cars deliver 340hp of power and can sprint from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 112mph.

Added specification compared to existing GTX models includes metallic paint and the Assistance Pack Plus with area view camera, electric tailgate, IQ. Drive Travel Assist, Park Assist Plus, memory feature for Park Assist and side assist. The GTX Editions also feature the Interior Sport Pack Plus combining power-adjustable ergoActive comfort seats with massage function, integrated front head restraints and ArtVelours microfleece inserts. Altogether, the extra equipment is worth £6,500 as standalone options.

The new models are available to order from Thursday 21 November.
