Volkswagen updates ID.5 electric SUV-coupé with new entry-level model

Volkswagen has introduced a new lead-in grade for its ID.5 electric SUV-coupé, cutting entry-level pricing to £49,735.

The Style serves as the new entry-level ID.5 model

It’s introduced alongside a new GTX Style, expanding the model’s trim line-up to five different designations.

The new Style trim is available with all three ID.5 powertrain options – the 174hp Pro, 204hp Pro Performance and 299hp GTX – and sits beneath the ID.5 Tech and ID.5 Max.

Meanwhile the GTX Style slots in before the GTX Max, becoming the entry-level model with the GTX powertrain.

The new Style trim removes a number of items as standard while buyers can specify some higher-grade equipment as options. These include the heat pump (£1,050), three-pin mains charging cable (£190), Trailer Hitch (£890) and the Infotainment Package Plus (£1,350), which features augmented reality head-up display, as well as a Dynaudio digital sound package and subwoofer.

As with all ID.5 models, the Style is only available with only the largest battery pack from the Volkswagen line-up – a 77kWh unit that provides a range of up to 316 miles. It can be charged at up to 135kW, enabling an 80% capacity charge in 29 minutes.

Francesca McGuinn, ID. family product marketing manager at Volkswagen UK, said: “The ID.5 is packed with every convenience, innovation and luxury that a customer might need, with only selected items on the optional extras list. That’s why it’s so exciting that the ID.5 Style has arrived, bringing with it a lower entry price for the model, but the same blend of sustainability, quality and head-turning style that mark out ID. models from their competitors.”
