Volta Trucks signs charging partnership with Siemens
Volta Trucks and Siemens Smart Infrastructure have partnered to help businesses accelerate the switch to commercial fleet electrification.
he two firms will work together to provide services from charging solutions to facility infrastructure to Volta Trucks’ customers. These will be in place from the start of deliveries of its Zero electric truck in all launch markets.
Volta is forging ahead with the start of production next year for its Zero model; the world’s first purpose-built, full-electric 16-tonne commercial vehicle designed for urban distribution, and to deliver safer and more sustainable cities.
But the line-up will also see an 18-tonne vehicle go into production mid-2023, while 7.5- and 12-tonne variants are due to arrive in 2025.
Its partnership with Siemens will help customers to “simplify, de-risk and accelerate their transition to commercial fleet electrification” by providing infrastructure for full electrification aligned with their operational needs.
This will see Siemens oversee the technical infrastructure of the charging installations for Volta’s Truck-as-a-Service customers, covering both hardware and software and delivering a claimed best-in-class solution. Siemens’ performance management platform will also help Volta Trucks customers achieve higher uptime with minimum outlay.
