Volvo has introduced a new single-motor variant of its C40 Recharge coupé-SUV, expanding its fully electric offer.

The single-motor C40 Recharge is priced from £44,800 and available to order now

Launched as the XC40 SUV also gets a number of updates, the new single-motor C40 joins the existing twin-motor model and expands the company’s range of fully electric variants to four. This supports its ambition of selling only fully electric cars by 2030.

The single-motor C40 Recharge sends power to the front wheels and comes with a 69kWh battery and an anticipated WLTP range of up to 269 miles (434km). The battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in some 32 minutes on a fast-charging system.

Priced from £44,800, it’s available to order now and starts first UK deliveries in Q3 2022.

Volvo has also given the entire XC40 line-up a refresh. For the all-electric XC40 Recharge, this includes a new front bumper and a frameless grille plate to keep the model in line with the C40 Recharge.

Other changes include pixel LED light technology for the headlights, enabling them to automatically adapt to traffic in front and efficiently light up the road ahead without dazzling other drivers.

Additionally, customers will receive premium leather-free upholstery options in the pure electric XC40 Recharge, as well as new exterior colours and alloy wheels, offering further possibilities for personalisation.

In the UK, the new trim level naming structure comprises Start (XC40 T2 only), Core, Plus and Ultimate. Depending on the model, certain trim levels are also offered in a dark theme, with gloss black exterior detailing, or a bright theme, complete with chrome exterior trim.

The new C40 and XC40 variants, along with all other new Volvo models, are available through an updated offer concept, focused on pre-selected variants and designed to render the online ordering process easier. It enables customers to choose between different equipment levels and select the options that best suit their personal needs.
