Volkswagen has expanded the line-up for the ID.4 electric SUV with new powertrains available in City or Style trim levels.

‘Pure’ and ‘Pure Performance’ battery and motor options are now available for the ID.4, in either City or Style trim levels

The line-up includes a new entry-level ID.4 City Pure model that’s eligible for the Plug-in Car Grant, priced from £32,150 (incl. grant).

The Pure powertrain, also available in the Style trim, features a 148hp motor with 220Nm of torque, powered by a 52kWh net capacity battery.

The ID.4 also gets a new Pure Performance battery and motor combo, using a 170hp motor with 310Nm of torque, again with a 52kWh battery. This is also offered in City and Style trims.

The new powertrains bring up to 213 miles of combined WLTP range across both City specifications, and up to 211 miles in Style variants. They can be charged using a 100kW rapid charger, giving 137 miles of range in 30 minutes, while a 7.2kW home charger takes around 7.5 hours to take the battery from 0 to 100%. Charging to 80% from a DC, CCS charge point takes 38 minutes.

Equipment on the entry-level City includes LED headlights and tail lights, 10-inch Discover Navigation Pro infotainment system, as well as a rain sensor and parking sensors front and rear. Driver assistance systems include Front Assist, Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control as well as traffic sign recognition.

The Style adds in design features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, IQ.Light LED matrix headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, 3D-design LED tail lights with dynamic turn signal, and illuminated door handle recesses, and tinted rear windows. Onboard equipment includes three-zone Climatronic climate control and a luggage net for the load area, along with keyless locking and starting system, and a rear-view camera.

Pricing kicks off from £32,150 (incl. PiCG) for the City Pure, while the City Pure Performance is priced at £36,030, the Style Pure at £38,150 and the Style Pure Performance at £39,530.

The new trims sit below the existing ID.4 Life, Family and Max models, which feature the 204hp and 77kWh ‘Pro Performance’ powertrain, and the coming months will see the ID.4 GTX – the brand’s first fully-electric high performance model – open for orders.
