Warrington Council is to install 30 new on-street charging points, helping to support residents switching to electric vehicles.

The Connected Kerb charge points will go live in five locations in the town

The council was awarded £95,000 worth of funding from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), which will be used to deploy charging solutions from Connected Kerb.

The charge points will go live in five locations, including Gladstone Street, White Street, Lexden Street, Bewsey Street and Manchester Road.

Councillor Hans Mundry, Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for highways, transportation and public realm, said: “We are delighted to have received funding from OZEV that will enable us to take a positive step towards ensuring our residents have access to on-street charging facilities. It’s our hope that these installations will encourage more widespread EV adoption across Warrington, including those people without driveways or off-street parking.”

Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO of Connected Kerb, commented: “Providing convenient on-street charging is key to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles, so it is great to see Warrington Borough Council putting concrete actions in place by rolling out an on-street charging network.”
