Lexus has debuted the LS 500h hybrid version of its flagship model at the Geneva Motor Show.

Built on the new Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury platform, the LS 500h brings a longer wheelbase than the current LS – up from 3,090mm to 3,125mm and features the brand’s new Multi Stage Hybrid System. Also seen in the LC 500h, this combines a 3.5-litre V6 Dual VVT-i V6 petrol engine and two electric motors, married up to a four-speed transmission which brings a simulated shift control pattern that Lexus says gives the feeling of a 10-speed gearbox. Total output is 349bhp with a 0 to 62mph time of 5.4 seconds. The LS 500h can also operate in full electric mode at speeds up to 87mph.

Although the LS 500 is exclusively all-wheel drive, the LS 500h will also be offered in both rear and all-wheel drive versions. 

The LS 500h also brings the updated Lexus Safety System+ package, which includes a new advanced safety system, bringing an intuitive pedestrian detection function with active steering among other technologies.
