Officially opening for sales on 24 October 2025 and priced from £31,990, the C-segment SUV kicks off the brand’s arrival in the UK, as announced in July, and undercuts rivals such as the Škoda Enyaq, Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The £99 refundable reservation fee secures one of the first delivery slots and also includes a complimentary co-branded Andersen A3 7kW home charger.
Geely is already present in the UK via the familiar Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and LEVC brands and has a 50% stake in Smart with Mercedes. It’s now entering the UK market directly through Geely Auto UK as a new national sales company for the brand, starting first with the EX5.
Already on sale in China and Australia, the EV newcomer is now heading over here, with fleets expected to be a key segment of demand.
Globally, it’s offered with a choice of 49.5kWh or 60.2kWh battery packs using the brand’s ‘short blade’ technology but Geely Auto UK has confirmed that the UK will get the larger pack. WLTP range starts at 255 miles and rises to 267 miles, depending on the trim. This is married up with an 11-in-one drive system, producing 218hp.
The battery is capable of charging from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes and vehicle-to-load (3.3kW) and vehicle-to-vehicle (6kW) capabilities will also be included.
Geely also said it’s focused on ensuring access to best-in-class charging services that includes developing a relationship with Octopus Energy that will enable straightforward and cost-effective charging availability and tariffs.
Geely Auto UK will offer the EX5 in three trim levels – SE, Pro and Max.
The SE model, priced at £31,990, comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, premium interior, LED lighting with high beam control, rain-sensing wipers, heated steering wheel, heated and electrically adjustable flat folding front seats, keyless entry, 15.4-inch central screen, 360-degree parking camera and adaptive cruise control.
The Pro model adds 19-inch low-drag alloy wheels as well as the option of the Cloud colour interior and are priced at £33,990 OTR.
At the top of the range, the Max model priced at £36,990 OTR includes a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, 256-colour ambient lighting, ventilated and massaging front seats with memory function, a 16-speaker premium audio system with two driver headrest speakers, and a head up display.
The EX5, which has already earned a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, will also come with comprehensive passive and active safety systems.
To support low running costs for private and fleet owners, service intervals are set at 24 months or 20,000 miles. In the UK, the Geely EX5 will carry a comprehensive base warranty of six years plus two additional years.
The brand also said it’s made strong progress in building a franchised retailer network in the three months since confirming its UK entry.
The UK business has also worked with Lotus Engineering, another Geely offshoot, for a comprehensive evaluation of the EX5, providing a basis for future tuning of the SUV tailored to UK and European roads and customer driving styles.
Geely Auto UK is also working closely with Thatcham Research to determine the Geely EX5’s insurance rating, “ensuring any required repairs can be carried out efficiently and to the required standards”.
Mike Yang, general manager, Geely Auto UK, said: “We believe we have a strong introductory model in the Geely EX5; a global car with several standout features we believe will have particular appeal to the UK market. The packages and support we have in place to support our customers are standout.
“The partners we have been working with are some of the strongest businesses in their sectors and we only have more of these to announce as we build towards our launch in late October. We have been hugely encouraged by the enthusiastic development of our retailer network and look forward to announcing more on this in due course.”
The introduction of the EX5 begins Geely Auto’s commitment to delivering “a diverse range of high-quality, accessible vehicles tailored for the UK”.
Globally, Geely Auto remains committed to its ‘one country, one policy’ strategy; a customised approach to local market demands while maintaining precise measures to ensure efficient operations across more than 80 countries and regions globally.
The carmaker will then increase its product range on offer in the UK in 2026.
