Dacia’s updated Spring supermini is now available to order, priced from just £12,240 thanks to the carmaker’s inhouse grant scheme.
The fully electric hatchback first launched in October 2024 as one of the UK’s most affordable EVs with a price tag of £14,995.
The facelifted version, complete with more power and better handling, is normally priced from £15,990 but the Romanian brand has launched its own Electric Car Grant – separate to the Government’s scheme – that cuts the price of the Spring by £3,750; equivalent to Band 1 on the official UK electric grant programme.
This ensures the Spring retains its title as the UK’s most affordable new electric car, despite upgrades to the chassis and braking system along with two new motors and a new battery.
The new 70hp and 100hp electric motors replace the previous 45hp and 65hp e-motors, offering up to 20% more power and torque between 50 and 75mph. The extra performance delivers 0-62mph times of 12.3 seconds for the Electric 70 and 9.6 seconds for the Electric 100; both with a top speed of 124mph.
Meanwhile, a new 24.3kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery delivers a WLTP driving range of up to 140 miles – matching the range of the outgoing version despite the extra performance. It’s the first time that LFP technology has been used in the Renault Group and offers optimised thermal safety, longevity and cost.
The Spring also comes with a new 40kW onboard DC charger – compared with 30kW previously – that’s able to recharge the battery from 20-80% in 29 minutes.
Inside, the 2026 Spring gains an upgraded digital experience, with a seven-inch digital driver display as standard across the range. Enhanced materials and Dacia’s YouClip accessory system increase cabin practicality, while Extreme versions introduce a larger 10.1-inch multimedia display with wireless smartphone connectivity.
Two trims are offered: the entry-level Expression married up with the Electric 70 motor and the Extreme grade with the Electric 100 motor.
The lead-in model comes with air conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, electric front windows, rear parking sensors, rear wash-wipe, central locking, fully digital instrument display and Dacia’s Media Control with steering wheel-mounted controls.
The Extreme version is priced from £16,990 – or £13,240 with Dacia’s Electric Car Grant – and gains the more powerful 100hp motor plus copper-accented styling, electric rear windows, heated and electronically adjustable door mirrors, front and rear parking sensors with reverse camera, 10.1-inch Media Nav Live with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, additional USB connectivity and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
Six colours are available, starting with Polar White, Khaki, Lightning Grey, Brick Red, Stonewash Blue and – new for 2026 – Seafoam.
The updated Dacia Spring is available to order now, with first deliveries in spring 2026.
