The electric crossover, first launched in 2021, has been updated for the 2026 model year and will go on sale from June, with price starting from £37,000.

Prices are likely to be sweetened further by the addition of the UK government Electric Car Grant for entry-level models – as with the pre-facelift version – although this is still be confirmed by the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles.

Exterior changes bring a refreshed design inspired by Nissan’s ‘Timeless Japanese Futurism’ design philosophy with a redesigned front appearance, creating a cleaner and more seamless look. The body colour front panel and reinterpreted V-Motion signature give Ariya a “strong yet minimalist” presence.

The Ariya also gets new 19-inch wheels, combining aluminium and resin elements, while exterior colour choices gain a new Plasma Green colour, that’s “inspired by natural light phenomena”. A range of monotone and two-tone body colours is available.

Inside, a redesigned central console increases the storage space up to 3.2 litres and incorporates the latest-generation 15W wireless charger.

For 2026, Ariya is equipped with the latest generation of NissanConnect with Google built-in.

Features include the In-Car Route Planner by Google Maps; available as standard across the line-up. Drivers just need to say, “Hey Google, navigate to Edinburgh Castle” and Google Maps automatically plans the most efficient route, integrating any necessary charging stops based on the real-time battery level.

To save time, the car intelligently pre-conditions the battery as drivers approach a station, ensuring it reaches the optimal temperature for the fastest charge. The dedicated NissanConnect Services app monitors battery levels, manages charging sessions, adjusts climate settings and tracks tyre pressures directly from the driver’s phone.

The 2026 Ariya also offers an 11kW bidirectional onboard charger supporting vehicle-to-load. This allows compatible external electrical devices, such as laptops, to be powered directly from the vehicle via a dedicated connector, providing up to 3kW of output when stationary. For DC rapid charging, the Ariya supports speeds of up to 130kW.

The updated Ariya also delivers enhanced ride comfort through updated suspension tuning, delivering improved stability, reduced vibrations and a smoother driving experience, particularly over long distances.

Ariya also features Nissan’s ProPilot advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive distance control functions, supporting relaxed driving in stop-and-go traffic by assisting acceleration, deceleration and stopping, helping to reduce driver fatigue. These technologies have been enhanced to ensure faster response times and better, smoother adjustments.

As before, the Ariya will come with 63kWh and 87kWh battery choices. The smaller battery will be married up with the Engage+ entry trim while the larger pack comes in top-rung Advance grade form.

First deliveries are expected from September.
