Affordable, long-distance electric Volkswagen to break cover at CES

The brand said it will hold a keynote the evening before the show opens on the 6th January, where Dr Herbert Diess, chairman of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, will unveil the manufacturer’s latest innovations in electromobility and connectivity.

Volkswagen announced in October that it would be stepping up its research and development of electric drivetrains, with an electric ‘toolkit’ designed to make it easier to fit longer-range plug-in hybrid technology across multiple sectors.

The teaser image features the C-shaped daytime running lights used on the brand’s plug-in hybrid and fully electric models – the e-up!, e-Golf, Golf GTE and Passat GTE.

Among the connectivity updates will be a near production-ready version of the gesture-controlled infotainment system from the Golf R Touch concept, which was shown at CES this year.
