Airport parking company to offer free charging for electric vehicles

By / 11 years ago / International News / No Comments

Funded by the nationwide Coulomb Technologies ChargePoint America programme, four are in Austin, three in Baltimore and the remaining three are in Orlando. Each can charge two electric vehicles at once, while the owner boards a shuttle for the airport.

Data collected from the charging points will be fed back to the Department of Energy and ChargePoint, aimed at optimising the electric vehicle infrastructure across the country. If the first units prove popular, Fast Park will roll out further charging points at its remaining ten locations in the United States.

Melanie Chavez, executive vice president of construction and branding at Fast Park, said: ‘We are seeing a growing need for EV charging in specific markets. In Orlando and Cincinnati, for example, many of our customers have already been utilizing our outdoor-rated GFCI outlets. We're now taking this a step further to install dual charging stations in three of our markets: Austin, Baltimore and Orlando.’
